Illustration Friday: "Opposite" /SBL: variation on a rejected piece

Whatever is underneath that rug is probably the opposite of those kids.

***
This is one of about 18 pieces for Slugs & Bugs & Lullabies, the new album by Andrew Peterson.

This piece wasn't quite it and I had to do another version, but I still like it.

  2. Oh no!! That creature won't even fit under their beds!
One relief: if these kids have some guts, the monster will be scared away easily.

  13. They're brave to want to peek! I love the tiny chair way up top! I also really like the background texture...nice contrast to the fine drawing.

  19. Gorgeous! I love the texture in the background, how the foreground elements pop out because they have -no- shading. Cute cat on the chair and is that an Asterix print on the wall?
    very nicely done.
