Illustration Friday: "Opposite" /SBL: variation on a rejected piece

Whatever is underneath that rug is probably the opposite of those kids.

***
This is one of about 18 pieces for Slugs & Bugs & Lullabies, the new album by Andrew Peterson.

This piece wasn't quite it and I had to do another version, but I still like it.

Oh no!! That creature won't even fit under their beds!
One relief: if these kids have some guts, the monster will be scared away easily.

I love the rug! I wish I had a rug that big when I was little and my mom asked me to clean my room.
great work!

Don't let the creatures out!

They're brave to want to peek! I love the tiny chair way up top! I also really like the background texture...nice contrast to the fine drawing.

This is really cute! The color palette really works well and makes the piece very mysterious!

this is great! i love the way the miniature homey details make a perfect counterpoint to whatever's looming under the rug.

Gorgeous! I love the texture in the background, how the foreground elements pop out because they have -no- shading. Cute cat on the chair and is that an Asterix print on the wall?
very nicely done.

Fantastic! (as always) The cat seems to have second thoughts about looking under the rug !
