more of New York

In my previous post I covered the Petr Ginz premiere. Here is some of the rest of our time in NYC.

The obligatory Times Square shot.

For my sister, Courtney.

At the premiere.

One time we heard the sultry tones of the Spider-Man theme.

Rockefeller.

The Nintendo World Store. All my dreams came true.

Pleased to report that the 3DS's images blended for my eyes. (I can't really see 3D movies so this was an awesome surprise.) Notice the in the picture there are two images on the screen. You only see one 3D image when you look at it in person.

Why I did thumbs up rather than V for victory I'll never know.

Part of the mini-museum.

A little Mario Bros.

My friend Nate tells a hilarious and heartwarming story in this disorienting animated .gif I have created.

Erin and I on the Staten Island Ferry.

Heather, Esla, and Matt.

Likely, I'm getting out my DS.

There you have it.

The Last Flight of Petr Ginz - the premiere

We just returned from New York where we attended the premiere of The Last Flight of Petr Ginz, the feature length documentary film for which we provided about 20 minutes worth of animation. I can't wait until the film sees a wider release and I can point you toward it. Until then I'll content myself with the trailer as well as showing you some pictures of the premiere.

I hope you will enjoy.

The film was screened in the Walter Reade Theater.

Me, Heather, and Matt.

The reception before.

Me and Matt Silver, artist rep. extraordinaire.

Erin and me before the movie.

And since I can't show you the movie yet, here is the trailer.

Afterward some of us were asked to go up on stage.

That's Sandy, the director introducing me.

To see the animated portions I had worked on so hard finally shown on a massive theater screen was amazing to say the least. It was an incredible experience to glance back for a moment and see a sea of faces looking at my work.

I was able to meet Petr Ginz's niece, Tamar, after the screening. I'm not going to lie, it was difficult to keep it together talking with her. To think what her family had lost when Petr and other members of her family were killed is extraordinary.

I look at my work on the film as only trying to help Chava (Petr's little sister who survived and now lives in Israel. She is in her 80s.) tell her story about her brother. That's it.

Next post,Wednesday. A little more about our time in NYC.

The Last Flight of Petr Ginz

Next week we'll be attending the premiere of The Last Flight of Petr Ginz at the Lincoln Center in NYC.

About the Film:

By 14 Petr Ginz had written five novels and penned a diary about the Nazi occupation of Prague. By 16 he had produced 120 drawings and paintings, edited an underground magazine in the Theresienstadt Ghetto, written numerous short stories and had walked to the gas chamber at Auschwitz.

Cory Godbey acted as the Art Director for the animated portions of the documentary and created the art for animation by Danny McNight. Cory also prepared many of Petr Ginz’s original drawings and paintings for animation.

The film premiers at the Walter Reade Theater,
Lincoln Center on March 16th.

I can't wait to see the completed film.

thank yous + many shippings

First of all, a huge thank you everyone who supported my bit and run - originals series!

You can see the entire 50 piece collection here as well which ones are still available by visiting my store here.

I had a lot of drawings to mat, package, and ship (in addition to some other recent sales.) I enjoy matting my own drawings and prints, there's something nice about it. I even enjoy addressing all of the mailers.

If you got one of my bit and run - originals you should receive it soon. Thanks again!

bit and run - originals! Now available!

Hey everyone! I had so much fun doing "bit and run" last year; in many ways I got as much enjoyment out of exploring Nintendo in that manner as actually playing the games. I just thought how much fun it'd be do something again for GoNintendo. I decided to take some time and make something that people could actually have a part of rather than just look at online.

bit and run - originals
is a collection of 50 Nintendo inspired original drawings. These are not prints, each is an original piece of art. Some of them are like portraits, other just simple moments, or little comics in and of themselves. The drawings are on Rives BFK, a very nice, heavy watercolor paper and are matted for a total size of 5" x 7" (the drawing measures 4 x 6 inches.)

Again, it's been too long since I got to draw and play in a world inspired by Nintendo and I guess this is the form my enthusiasm took this time. I hope you guys enjoy the result!

Cory
