Illustration Friday: "Smoke"

* * *

a thumbnail of a page of a [inproduction] graphic novel (written by a friend) about a very unlucky man, who, at this juncture in life has just hit a bees nest only to have a plane fall on him.

...And everybody survived, right? I like illustrations with happy endings. : ) I absolutely love the rough quality of this piece.

Awesome piece as always. I hate to fly, and this is why!

Wonderful character expressions! And I hope everyone looks at the large version to see the little guy in the corner...

Great! it's a fantastic sequence. Good luck working on the rest of the book :)
Just pointing one thing, with the layout you have maybe it gives too much atention to the big illustration with the plane, and the sequence on the side is having less atention. Maybe if the reaction of the guy would stand on the top it would be better understand. At least that what i think :)

great colours and it's really dynamic. I love the small silhouette of the guy running away from the plane.

great drawings. The characters misfortune makes me think of the show Dead Like Me where a toilet seat from space kills George and the Allanis Morrisette song, Ironic. Great idea and depiction.

As always - fabulous work!! Love the idea and the execution. But since I've been on 11 airflights in the last 2 weeks and I'm getting on an international flight at the end of this week I'll try to "forget" this wonderful illustration :).

I love the story blocks within the bigger picture...Great storyboarding. The contrast in size: big plane meets mini-man really adds to the drama :)

Amazing scale of the plane with its improbable angle and little guy running for his life… Your illustrations have glow about them that even the most morbid moment made somehow cozy, he-he… Beautiful!
