yesterday night

was wonderful; spent with erin, we ate take out on the floor of the living room, and played mario kart.

the meeting no one called

Yesterday morning we had a meeting. After a few minutes it was clear; no one had called the meeting. For whatever reason we all had met and thought there was going to be a meeting but in fact no one had called a meeting. In the end we did actually meet. Since we were all there anyway.

I know because I took notes.

Illustration Friday: "Communication"

Most every problem I would think, you can trace back to communication. Mostly a lack of communication. Is that the problem here? Maybe. We may never know.

All art done by me in photoshop. Effects in iMovie.

Semi-animated, quasi-animatic-like storyboards dropped in iMovie with a few effects.
And some appropriate music, again, apologies to Michael Giachinno.

I edited out the name of the company at the end just for fun. This video and all the storyboards were created as a pitch for a set of commercials. The idea being (when you see the video you'll see) you may be good and amazing at what you do but without company X, you're not really. Rather, you may have what you need but you're lacking the crucial componet that company X can provide.

We had a meeting about it and came up with the punchline and I sat down and just sort of made up the rest. Roughly boarded the whole idea out in pencil then made some cleaner storyboards in photoshop.

tuesday morning

Lots of client work + recently + me - personal time = no new art to post

however,
I have discovered that my mac can take video. Even sped up video. So, for anyone who wanted to see what the view from my monitor looks like, click the below:

This is my Tuesday morning. Most of it was boring, but the film is sped up so it goes like a fast boring. I cut out the really boring parts, like where it's just my head jittering around looking at work on the screen. Mostly I just left in where people came over to talk.

There's really only one worthwhile part, around 23 seconds into it. I would not blame you if you stopped watching after about 26 seconds.

Others in my short film, in order of apperance:
Cedar, Portland intern.
Chris.
Justin.

I think Brannon pops in at one point. I don't remember. I'll have to check.

At one point I picked up the computer and held it next to the hamster cage. But it goes quick. Keep a sharp eye.

bang, bang

Note: I did not shoot my computer.

I have a small hand gun which shoots copper BBs. This morning a co-worker (who also has a small hand gun which shoots copper BBs) and I went out back, set up a target, took aim, and fired.

From 40 ft away with a BB gun, I am deadly accurate.

the creature upstairs

There is a new creature upstairs at my desk. It is small and mostly never awake.

Answering to the name, "Charlie" this creature belonged to two friends who had two creatures in one cage.

After many blissful months, the one tried to eat a hole through the other. I now have the one that got almost ate through.

This creature buries itself in the pine. It's curious method of submersing itself ensures that I will not be able to determine when the creature has passed from this life-- other than the smell it will no doubt reek.

I awoke the creature yesterday morn to check on the status of its living. It was infact alive.

And now, it runs on its wheel. Constantly.

FAILURE

as adept as I am in most areas, not so in the art of making coffee--
to wit:

Quote: a prominent co-worker, the pot I made yesterday afternoon tasted like, "(clicks tongue) A Brick."

Another said, quote, "Really Bad."

Not to have been out done by myself before, and since more coffee grounds = gooder coffee, I filled the maker to the brim like so many brimming fishes.

The end result being what I might call something in the way of vaudeville and slightly brick-y.

"I will make that good pot," said I.

So, being that the night before, while a drink of water I got at 3:03 AM being awoke by the cat, I met the frame of the doorway with my forehead in the darkness and thereby caused a small welt to form where once before there was only eyebrow.

Again, so as not to be out done by myself, I went onto (after my water and dazed collision with the frame) to not-sleep and lay awake for many days. Or hours. Maybe only two. But they felt long.

Purposing in my heart to not suffer defeat at the hands of this task-master so wicked and bad, I resolved to forge the pot again:

And so. In this glad morning, I made that pot-- cast off the old grounds of the yesteryear afternoon, rough hewn afresh were the new grounds, and I burned them with many hot waters.

And there, at my desk, I drank that coffee, enjoying it as much as people really do enjoy coffee (-_-) for it is close to a joke, but enjoy it really-- for that doctored kind is not good. Resound, that tan coffee to be abolished and be drunk no more. Many hot waters burned that coffee, and it was good.

And I made one cup. One cup in that 12 cup pot. One cup for me and no other, thereby ensuring the sound affirmation of my abilities,

or

infact

so I would be the only one who knew that I was, still, as always, bad at making coffee.

Gypsy Queen

Photoshop drawing with watercolor texture.

Illustration Friday: "Red"

A piece from the music video Chris and I working on. The video is going to be After Effects animated (sort of like Flash animation I suppose) I

It's for the song "The Beast" by musician Steven Delopoulos.
I think he's kind of famous.

I've chronicled some of the development for the video as well as a little test animation piece here:
