Illustration Friday: "Alphabet"

Here's an old drawing with new photoshop. Nothing like a guy that looks like a cross between a viking and a football player to teach you your letters.

self portrait

Do I really-- I mean really, hang out with little flying elephants?
You'd better believe it.

The New, Improved-- PORTLAND STUDIOS STORE! Who would like a t-shirt? I know I the heck would. Finally.

Below are three even bigger pictures than on the real site of my currently available designs:

Buy em!

new blue

A different sort of painting. I'm experimenting trying to find the exact way I want to paint the Blue Goblet stories. I feel like it ought to be somewhere close to this.

I'm struggling between doing fine, more impressionistic watercolors or tight, solid, line-heavy paintings. Just not there yet.

rain rain

"a steady rain began to drum as she reached the top of the mountain."

I took the minutes during today's meeting. They were less than customary.

Not really, I didn't take any minutes, I just drew a fat troll with wings! Come on!

I Don't Wear Glassess

Seriously, I don't. Keep it professional, please.

Illustration Friday: "Captain"

Captain? Sir, that's not football, sir, it's a brown lemon with stitches.

An old one, from college.

I noticed that the Portland Studios, Inc. website has been updated, sort of! A couple new pieces in the portfolio section and some other stuff around. Enjoy.

Illustration Friday: "Emergency"

“Scavenger!” someone shouted over the noise. “We need a Scavenger!”

Another blast erupted out the side of the machine and blew hot bits of twisted metal and screws through the air. The gas bulbs that hung from the ceiling on thin wires trembled and flickered on and off and on again.

“Windows! Open the windows!”

“That’s against regulations!”

“Hang regulations! The whole floor’s going to blow!”

“Shut it off!” someone else called.

“It won’t turn off!”

“Scavenger!” another voice bellowed. “Where’s that blasted kid?”

An illustration from my forthcoming children's novel, Jack & Inar. Publication is set for early 2008.

Here is this piece, from doodle to drawing to finished piece, time-lapsed:

Worked without relying on line so much last night. Concentrating on shapes and watercolor.

P.S., Inc. Moving Day-- time lapsed!

I don't think that we really got a ton done. But. Oh well.

Illustration Friday: "Missing"

"Dead Eye" yeah, that's what they called him. In his day.

new post?

Haven't been able to post anything in a while. That's obvious, you may say. Well, yes. It is obvious. But judge my unfortunate inactions kindly, as I have reasons.

One big reason being that Portland Studios have recently upgraded office space. You may imagine that I have acquired certain amounts of junk from the previous space. This is very true. And it has taken time to move.

However, the new space is even more luxurious.

The new view from my computer.

The new work on the new desk has also been, unfortunately, un-postable at this point. Lots of client work, as well as internal P.S., Inc. projects that have yet to be revealed.
